Initiative for Peace and Communal Harmony in North East India
January 30-31, 2015

Department of Mass Communication, Assam University and Centre
for Bangladesh Studies, Assam University, Silchar will be jointly organising an
International Seminar on the above theme during 30-31st January, 2015. Abstracts are welcome from academicians,
scholars, and researchers. Abstracts should reach latest by 14th December, 2014, 17:30 IST. These
would be peer reviewed.

Guidelines for Abstract and Full Papers:
·
The
abstract should be within 500 words.
·
On
the top of abstract, title of the paper, the author’s name, designation,
institution of affiliation, and contact details (phone & email) should be
clearly mentioned first.
·
The
abstract may be written in MS word, Font size 12 Pt.
·
Those
who will send the abstract in Bengali or in any language other than English,
please send in pdf file format.
·
Selected
papers would be published in an edited volume immediately after the seminar.
·
The
length of full paper including tables, diagrams, illustrations, references,
etc. should preferably be within 5000 words.
·
The
full paper should be in English and typed in MS-Word in Times New Roman with
font size 12 and 1.5 spaced.
·
Those
who will send the Full Paper in Bengali or in any language other than English,
please send in pdf format.
Hospitality and Traveling
Allowance: The
organizing committee will make modest arrangements for boarding and lodging in
local hotels at Silchar, Assam for all international delegates and for selected
delegates from India on a ‘first full paper text received first confirmed’
basis. Keeping the budget constraints, the delegates are requested to arrange
their travelling expenses from their respective institutions / organizations or
other sources.
THE HOST CITY: Silchar is the headquarters of
Cachar district in the state of Assam in India. It is situated on the banks of
the River Barak, after which the area is popularly known as Barak Valley.
Silchar is well connected by air with Kolkata, Guwahati, Imphal and Tezpur. Besides, regular bus services are also there.
Rail services are however not available during this period for ongoing conversion
of meter gauge into broad gauge track.
CLIMATE: The average temperature during the last week
of January is expected to be between 8°C and 20°C, while average day
temperature is expected to be between 15°C and 20°C.
HOW TO REACH: Silchar is 343 KM away (south-east)
of Guwahati, the state-capital of Assam. Nearest airport is located at 22 KM away, at
Kumbhirgram.
